It's the freakin' Parrot man, it's great! One of the older bars in South Florida that is still unique and awesome. Burgers are great. In the late 80's & early 90's, it used to be the #1 place in South Florida to get the worst beer hangover/headache because they only served Miller High Life on tap, but it was cheap and I was in college, so I drank it. Then they added Heineken to the two choices on tap, but that was expensive at $3/glass, hah. Nowadays, they've grown up a bit and added a few more to the repertoire and have a nice selection now. The bar has cleaned up a lot over the years, but still has a great local beach bar feel. Part of it is the owner has remained for at least the last 20+ years, so it's got that authentic feel to it. Doesn't get as rowdy as it used to in the mid-90's, but then again, neither do I, sadly and not-sadly. If you're visiting South Florida, check out the Elbo Room & the Parrot. They're old school authentic Ft. Liquordale beacons of party times in days past, while remaining relevant and great values and not being cheesy touristy places.

The staff here makes this place great. The atmosphere is ready for watching sports or hanging with friends.

The Parrot is the best place in South Florida to watch a football game. It is an Eagles bar. When you walk in this place you feel like your in Philadelphia. Everybody is wearing their eagles attire. The food is not bad either as they serve classic philly favorites the cheesteak. The wings and hamburgers are also tasty. They have a good selection of beer on tap.

I have not been here since the early 80's until last week. Still the best hamburger in Ft. Lauderdale. Good food & drink for little money. This place was established in 1970, and is obvious why it has lasted so long.

Great, casual little place...........within walking distance of the beach if you want to get out of the sun for awhile. Very reasonably priced, good food away from the pricier places on the strip. Several dinner selections for under $15.................I got the mahi mahi, my husband got the grouper (mahi was bigger and better) choice of two sides-we both got salads and mac & cheese (so good). Looks like it would be a fun place to hang out for awhile with cheap drinks

awesome pub... right around the corner from Primanti Bros... drink 7 or 8 beers, then go eat some pie!

Nestled in between two tattoo parlors on Sunrise Blvd. is this little sports bar with a Philly bent. They have about 20 TV's so chances are whatever game you want to see is on. Decent beer selection, friendly staff, and a jukebox that wasn't all shite.

Parrot lounge was ok. I really enjoyed the atmosphere because I dig that old bar type of feel. You know the one that's kinda been around the block? There was a guy bragging about being stabbed in San Quentin on the patio as we were coming in. On the whole the menu was your typical pub grub. They had one gluten free option (which is very important to me). No other restaurant we've been to while here even knows what I'm talking about. Anyway, the service was good and friendly and the food came out really quickly. Surprisingly so. The beer list is extensive and they have gluten free beer!

  • Jeff H.

Okay, I can't give this a 5 star for one reason. They are an Eagles bar and turn all the TVS to their game. UGH. Besides that this is the best Sports Bar in Fort Lauderdale. Great beer, food is good, the bartenders are super friendly, and the atmosphere is just what the beach needs. My wife has been telling me about this place for over 20 years and she was holding out on me! Will be back again unless an Eagles game is on.

My girlfriend is from Boston and had this place a few months ago, she came home and couldn't stop talking about the cheese steak so I had to try it. Absolutely the best I've ever had! The bread was perfect, cheese and steak extremely flavorful. You gotta try it! I hear it's an awesome spot during football season.

I came to Fort Lauderdale for 6 days, and stayed right around the corner from The Parrot. I visited daily because I love really good beer. Each time I went, the bartender would introduce themselves, and for the remainder of the night, we'd be on a first name basis. That was awesome. The beer selection is top notch... lots of good, local craft brews, and a bottle list that will keep you busy for a while. The food is also good. It's pub food, but it's good pub food. Their fried gulf shrimp is to die for, as is their Mahi Mahi sandwich. Great little place for a tasty, fresh meal. Another positive is that they make drinks to go, which is convenient considering how close they are to the beach. I made a couple of pina colada trips, which were both pretty strong. This was a great restaurant to have in the neighborhood, and would often make it my first and last stop of the day. Great beer, and by far the friendliest atmosphere I encountered in south Florida.

Nice place about one block from beach. Happy hour Monday thru Friday $1 off. Live music on Patio on Fridays. Philly football bar on Sunday's. Drink and foot prices average for the neighborhood. Good quality a bit below average and the menu is predictable. Service was efficient and friendly. Conch fritters torched on outside and a bit rare inside. Stick with fries and nachos.

This Fort Lauderdale institution is one of my favorite bars in the city. It's comfortable and totally unpretentious, and inside there's always a good mix of regulars (who've been coming for decades) and tourists (who are coming right off the beach). The TVs lining the wall have every game on (including soccer, NHL, and so on), though the only time it feels overwhelmingly like a Sports Bar is during an Eagles game, because this place is at its core a Philly bar. Most of the time, it's just good conversation, good people, and good music from the jukebox. And while you can get great deals on beer buckets or shots if that's your style (and it's what most people here are drinking), a real attraction for me is the selection of craft beer. The tap list changes weekly, and if you know what to look for you can find some really great brews: Maple Bacon Porter, Stone Enjoy By, CCB's Cafe con Leche, and Grapefruit Sculpin, to take just a few examples, were all on tap over the last few months. The tap list is supplemented by three fridges with even more rare bottles behind the bar. They also make a pretty good cheesesteak if you're hungry. Prices are extremely reasonable, especially for this part of Fort Lauderdale. And of course the service is efficient and as friendly as it gets. All reasons why I like to think of myself as a regular here!

Visited this bar twice while in Florida the week before Christmas 2014. We went there once on Wednesday or Thursday just for drinks. Service was slow, even though bar was not busy. I only order one drink. The boyfriend had a really good beer (Brewer Bus) and wanted another one, but based on the slow service, we decided to close out. Bar tender wad busy talking to some other folks all the way at the other end of the bar. Decent prices. We went again on Saturday night because it was of walking distance from our hotel. It was a little busier than the other day, but not too much. We went pretty late. Probably 8-930pm. Sever was very nice. Chicken quesadilla was really good. Then we had the Breaded shrimp. Breaded shrimp kind of all taste the same... So yeah lol the boyfriend had two more of the same beer. Due to location, and beer prices, I would recommend this place if you were staying at the Sonesta. Good prices on drinks, decent food. Quesadilla was actually pretty good. Lots of indoor seating.. And some outdoor. Bathroom is small and janky, but whatever lol it's a bar ish type restaurant.

Cool little place located just off the main strip. TVs everywhere and not a bad seat in the house. Food was decent and the staff was friendly, but service was at a snail's pace and there was no one in there. Drink prices were a little iffy, but not bad.

Good old school bar, friendly bartenders. Thursday they have 3-dollar philly cheese steaks (6-inch), which was quite good actually. Decent beer selection, golden monkey is awesome

We have been to Ft.Lauderdale a few times and have never been to this awesome bar. It's a little off the beaten path and somewhat like your neighborhood bar. The bartenders are very nice and welcoming, Greg was our favorite. He has been there for 23 years and you can tell her loves his job and the bar. We went there our first night in town and went back our last day as well. The food was awesome, must try the fried pickles! Very laid back feel and fun! Oh, and being from south jersey we couldn't have stumbled into a better place. Philly sports are on TV and the decor is all around the bar. (Owner is apparently from Trenton, Nj) We will be visiting the Parrot AND Greg every time we visit Ft. Lauderdale.

The Parrot has the right amount of old school Fort Lauderdale and griminess to be awesome. It's not trying to be anything it's not. It's the anti-South Beach. Located in my favorite area of Fort Lauderdale Beach, it's in a colorful block off of Sunrise Boulevard, behind Primanti Bros. Just North enough from the hubbub of of Elbo Room, this place exists for 3 reasons: beer, (good) bar food and Phillys watching. The staff is friendly and no one takes anything too seriously. You'll find a mix of locals, bikers, restaurant employees after their shift and beach-goers. It gives you a glimpse of Fort Lauderdale before high-rises and resorts.

Ok- umm someone told us this joint had the best Philly cheesesteaks around- gross!! They were very very chewy I didn't make it out of there without throwing up! The funnel fries were great!!

I am a second generation drinker at the fine establishment known as The Parrot. I've long been regaled with tales of drinking and hitting on tourists at the beach by my Dad, so when we stopped in Ft Lauderdale on our way to Key West, I knew that we had to stop here. Luckily, we came here during South Florida Craft Beer week, so the Cigar City was flowing like wine. The prices were very competitive and they even offer flights just in case you want to taste everything (which you should.) After several of these, I went with the peel and eat shrimp so I had something in my belly. It's just like back at home in the lowcountry. The prices on everything are competitive, and there is even a cooler with bombers of several rares you can partake in as well, in case you're looking to get adventurous. If you're looking for a laid back, craft beer bar near the beach, this is where you should go in town.

This is the greatest place ever! We stayed right around the corner and we arrived a little late at night so we just stopped over here to grab some drinks and food and everything was awesome! The service was awesome, everyone came over to chat, including the owner, he was awesome! They had TVs all over and an awesome vibe! Plenty of drink choices and the food was super good!!! I want to come back and bring my bf he would really enjoy this place!

Did you see Shawn of the dead? This is our Winchester. Lol. In our never ending quest to find places where we don't feel on display (as badly-lol), this is our nearby go to place. Simple inexpensive comfort bar food menu, and a humongous selection of craft bottle and draft beers. And friendly staff and bartenders who seem to know everyone. They have events and a game area we haven't scoped out yet, but will. The table settings always have the month calendared to list daily specials and events. Although we wouldn't necessarily be deemed "regulars", staff here have always been friendly to us each time we've visited. I get my craft beer fix and its been great to take our friends here to chill and watch different sports on all the TV's they have. We even have taken the little ones for a quick bite, particularly after a romp at the beach. The simple but very tasty funnel cake sticks are a blast, the funnel stick sundae with vanilla ice cream all swizzled with caramel is just cute tasty happy stuff. Overall, like another review mentioned this place is a rather unpretentious little neighborhood bar tucked right off the A1A and Sunrise.

While visiting Fort Lauderdale for my cousin's wedding, we had a free night to grab dinner before the big events of the follow day. Some of my extended family said they were heading to the World Famous bar behind our hotel, the Sonesta, and so we followed them to the Parrot Lounge. Inside the Parrot Lounge is very much a sports bar with TV's covering nearly ever available space above the bar. There is also shuffleboard, darts, and a Wii console. They have an amazing selection of craft beer available, including Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA on tap during our visit. For dinner I ordered the chicken philly ($8.99) and added onions, peppers, and mushrooms for $.50 each. The sandwich comes served with a bag of chips and fries were an additional $2. Phillys are served on Amoroso rolls and smothered in cheese. I really enjoyed the sandwich. My wife had the mahi-mahi sandwich (12.99) with sweet potato fries for $1 more. I didn't try this sandwich as I'm not big on fish, but she seemed to enjoy it. The sweet potato fries were a little overdone for me, but still edible. I really enjoyed our visit to the Parrot Lounge. Some members of my family had so much fun there this night that they went back again after the wedding the following night.

We ate here twice during our stay in Fort Lauderdale! Great food and service. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the prices were a little high for what it was. I got the super nachos with beef the last night we ate here and it wasn't anything too fancy but cost $15. Only negative, otherwise, it was great! Would definitely go back!

I came here to watch the United/Chelsea match. There was a pretty decent crowd of United fans, and they were welcoming to me as a new Parrot patron. Friendly staff, too. HUGE beer selection. The Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap was decent, but I must say -- try the Soft Pretzel -- YUM!

Great craft beers on tap and bottled. Foods really good too (had wings and quesadilla with my fiancé). Would've been 5 stars, but only giving 4stars for music and ambience.

I went to eat here a few weeks ago. It is a bar/restaurant across the street from sandbar. I ordered a mahi mahi sandwich. The sandwich was really good and came with a side order of kettle chips. The price was very reasonable. The atmosphere was quiet and was a very nice lunch. I will go back again.

I am proud to review this bar and restaurant, because I truly feel like I am a PART of it. I discovered The Parrot Lounge when I first moved down to Fort Lauderdale, and, being a die hard Eagles fan, have never gone elsewhere. I look forward to football season every year because of The Parrot Lounge. Aside from the food and drink, which I'll get to, the real reason this place shines is the people. Always great to see all my favorite bartenders - Mitch, Kendra, and the one and only Greg! They have all made me feel like family over the years. When I started out going there, I had my regular spot at the bar and didn't know anyone. But now the people who have their "season seats" at the bar around me are some of my best friends! This is the best community feeling when watching a game. Which brings me to the drinks. Where else do you get a free Jell-O shot every time your team scores? Bucket specials are perfect - 5 Yuenglings for $15 lasts me the whole game! And if you're looking for authentic cheesesteaks, of course they measure up. Though as anyone there can tell you, my food of choice is the Super Nachos!! So delicious!! The peel and eat shrimp are always good, as are the wings. If you're looking for a Philly bar to feel at home at, there is no place but the Parrot! I'll be here every football season!

This place was so close to our hotel is might as well have been inside it. We had a great time here. The bartender was extremely friendly, the place itself is nice and they have an absolutely awesome beer selection. We didn't get any food because we'd already eaten, but that didn't stop me from checking out everyone's food around us, and it all looked and smelled really good... Especially the wings that came out right next to us. Had we been in the area longer, it would have been. A no brainer to go back foe another visit. The beer is a little pricey, but the selection is just awesome. They have outdoor seating on the street also, and the street they are on is very small with light traffic.

What a great joint for any Philly area transplant. Or for Philly people visiting the area who miss home. Eagles crowds on Sundays game day. And then some. Tim the owner is a cool Philly dude. Great joint.

Came here for lunch during the weekday and sat outside. My boyfriend got a strawberry daiquiri and pina colada mixed (which, if you haven't tried before, you should!). He ordered the Parrot Burger and I ordered the Ahi Tuna. He liked his burger and the it came with homemade chips. My ahi tuna was great!! I ordered it rare and loved the thick cuts and the dipping sauce it came with. The service was not the best. Our waiter/waitress were both friendly but I was confused as to who was actually taking care of us. In fact, it didn't really seem as though either one was. Our waiter initially came and said hello and then said he'd be back...he brought us water then said he'd be back again...he then took our drink and food order and then the waitress brought the food out. No one checked on us until we had finished our food, so good thing we did not need or want anything else. Then the waitress brought our check and rang up our check. Maybe it was shift change or something but even so, it would have been nice to have the standard "is everything tasting okay?" sh-peal after getting our meal. But, it wasn't bad! Just not on the top of our list for places to return!

My Philly bar!! Awesome spot in Lauderdale. It's your typical dive bar and everyone is down to earth. Can't wait to go back.

Solid Fort Lauderdale Institution. Great beers, great wings (tried both fried and grilled - get the grilled) and bar food (pass on the Mahi Mahi). I'd put this on the short list if you're bar hopping in this part of town.

If you're feeling homesick, and you're from Philadelphia, this place is your spot. There is no other spot in Ft Lauderdale to watch the games than 'The Parrot'. If you ask anyone down here about it, the first thing out of their mouths will be, "the eagles bar". Whether you're a birds fan, a PSU fan, phillies, flyers or anything else Philly, this is your spot. Free Jello Shots have developed a cult following that you can't help wanting in on. If you come here enough, you'll undoubtedly make great friends and even have your seat at the bar saved for game time. The drink prices are reasonable considering its Ft Lauderdale beach, the food is typical bar grub served in a basket. You come here for the atmosphere. Greg is hands down my favorite bartender, ask for him!

Really great local low key place to get some awesome craft beers and some chow. My new fav beer is vanilla maduro by cigar city brewing (Tampa). Great Scottish ale here also. Sweet potato fries are great! All in all a great place to grab some food and tasty beers! Staff is super nice plus they have shuffleboard and lots of tv's.

First time back in... Gulp, 21 years. Wow. Maybe it's because it was a lazy, overcast Wednesday afternoon, or I'm just getting old, but it wasn't what I remembered. Last time around, I think I hung out there three nights out of five, I got invited to a Billy Joel / Elton John concert, won a few bucks playing darts, woke up on the beach, an generally had a great time. Oh... I am getting old (cue glory days, and if you know that song you are old too!). As for the bar, let's just say that ordering a Lagunitas IPA, watching whatever game I cared to see on TV, and hearing folks talking about Wilkes-Barre, the Schulkylll, and Manayunk... I knew that the Parrot had grown a bit older as well. Still true to its Philly roots (hell, the battened read born there) and expanding it's global perspective a bit... Well, if not their perspective, certainly their beer list. Happy 44th to the Parrott!

We were in Ft. Lauderdale on vacation from PA and this gem was directly behind our hotel. It's a Philly bar and they get packed for Eagles games, so they say. The bartenders are awesome, very friendly. Great beer selection, good food and a fun atmosphere. Our group concluded that one of the nights we spent here was in the top 5 of most fun nights we've ever had. They have a ton of TVs and will put on whatever sporting event you ask them to. The food is elevated bar food, we ate here four out of the five days we were in town.

Place was super close to the hotel And omg they had a puppy rescue where they encouraged donations by a free drink if you donate Tipsy girls and puppy adoption how brilliant?!!! They had awesome specials lots of craft beer which us west coasters like and good food selection Place looks like it has remained a hole in the wall which is amazing my Favorite kind of bar They even have wii bowling nights!! We drank a lot and the bill was still less then I expected Wish they weren't on the other side of the country cause I would hang out here again most certainly

Not my prefer place, but not so bad. They have some awesome things. But sometimes the attendant don't to their best. I used to work with public as a sail girl, so I'm very strict with this! I hope my next visit could be better.

Excellent beer selection but the burger was lame, flavorless, and carelessly put together. I ordered a side of steamed veggies to replace the chips and they tasted like they were frozen/microwaved instead of fresh - very chewy too. What finally tipped me from a four to a three rating is the condiment bottles in the caddy felt like they have never been wiped down. I literally used a napkin to grip the mustard bottle and squeeze some on my burger. I liked the bartender Stephanie.

We were looking for a cool craft beer bar near our hotel to do some St Patrick's Day drinking and Yelp directed me to The Parrot Lounge. It is just a block away from the beach on a side street that has a few other bars nearby. The beer menu was very impressive, they had pages and pages of bottled beers in addition to their large draft menu. We were able to try a bunch of beers we have never had the opportunity to try. We also had some food and it was good, pretty much what you would expect for bar food.

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!! That's right folks! This would be an Eagles bar! Literally the best place to go for Eagles games! Being that my husband and I are diehard Eagles fans and find it innapropriate to scream at the top of our lungs in other bars i'd have to say we fit in well here. Why? You ask?... 1. Eagles fans just as crazy as us. 2. Jello shots every touchdown! 3. Eagles fight song is played after every touchdown. 4. Best Philly Cheesesteaks around! I must warn you this place gets packed if you do not show up early and the fact that you have to find a spot AND pay for parking makes it that much more difficult. BUT once you step inside The Parrot you will soon forget about the stress you had to go through to make it just in time for kickoff. Heres what to do if you plan on heading to The Parrot: 1. Arrive at least one hour early! 2. Bring lawn chair and sit outside to watch the game. There are tvs outside if you happen to be late. 3. Order a darn Cheesesteak! I've tried Philly Cheesesteaks at other restaurants but i'd have to say this one takes the cake. Why wouldn't it? It's the perfect Philly bar! With it being off season and all (boo!) I haven't stopped by to check this joint out. BUT you will most definitely be seeing me there on game days going crazy in my gear! An awesome sandwich, drink specials and my Eagles fam is more than enough for me to come back! Woohoo!

me and my friend took a trip to ft lauderdale from new york a while back. while wondering around, looking for a bit to eat, we stumbled upon this divey gem. we ordered burgers and got a couple of beers and the food was actually very delicious. they have a rather large selection of craft and regular beers which is great. they were not very expensive either. a great place to grab a beer with some dinner and watch a game close by the beach.

Do you like booze? Do you like beer? Do you like an abundance of choices? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, odds are you'll like the Parrot Lounge. After walking around Fort Lauderdale Beach, lunching and people watching, my friend and I got the hankering for a beverage. Not being familiar with the area (hey; Miami and Fort Lauderdale are worlds apart), I brought out my trust Yelp app and found this awesome bar. Being midday on a Saturday, I expected more of a crowd but maybe the usuals were all hung over. I immediately dug the atmosphere. I don't know whether it's typical of Fort Lauderdale Beach, but I got a Key West feel. Maybe it was the parrot name. Or, maybe it was the pina colada with dark rum floater I enjoyed out on the sidewalk. Yes, at a bar with an impressively large beer selection, I whiffed and got a pina colada. I couldn't help it. The list is overwhelming and I don't think there was a menu from which to choose. Being a guy who likes to look at all his choices before deciding, such a situation called for a punt. Luckily for me, the pina colada was a.) delicious b.) extremely boozey (I highly recommend the floater) and c.) not that expensive. You know what a + b + c ='s don't you? A beer. Since I had started things out fruity, I continued down the road with a Sea Dog Blueberry. Again, it was a bit of a punt, as the beer was listed on special on the outdoor chalkboard. I easily could have stayed here all day. The drink selection is ginormous. The drink specials are generous (and numerous) and the service came with a giant, genuine smile. Again, we were there during a slow period. Maybe the service gets snippy with more people demanding attention. Maybe, but I sort of doubt it. I would drive back to Fort Lauderdale Beach just to come here. If you live in Dade, Broward or Palm Beach county and haven't been here, you're missing out. Fix this.

This is a "must stop by if in the area" or "destination" bar that is just around the corner from a good public beach. Best chicken fingers for kids in the area, which most would be surprised to learn. It's a seedy quarter of town but as a bar it just sdds to the atmosphere. The Philliy chicken is actually better than the steak sandwich but all are good. Chile is spicy and worth adding to any order. They have a number of craft beers on tap but run out of the best unfortunately. Good whisky and whiskey bar too. The sandwiches are a lot smaller than they used to be but prices are low enough to order two... get a chicken AND a steak philly. It is not unfriendly to kids for lunch or early dinner so take them too.

We are staying at the B Ft. Lauderdale which is in front of The Parrot. We were walking around yesterday looking for a quick bite and already had pizza but saw The Parrot and noticed that the windows were clean, the tables outside were wiped and clean as well. We poked our head in and from what we could tell the inside was really taken care of and clean too. Soooo tonight we ventured in and were not disappointed!!! Amazing craft beer menu which my husband is a much bigger fan of beer than I. But our waitress recommended something that I loved as well! I ordered 1/2 dozen oysters which were cold and fresh, so delicious and we both ordered a cheeseburger!!! Yummy yummy and juicy, the bun was fresh and service on spot!! We will definitely eat here again.

STAFF and ATMOSPHERE Amazing local hang out. Its like Cheers, but on the beach :) DRINK One of the best craft beer selections in South Florida! FOOD The only thing preventing a fifth star is the food. While the food is decent bar food, there doesn't seem to be a lighter option or anything to complement the amazing beer selection. A friend and I ate here a couple weeks ago. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and he had a BLT. The sandwich was good, but his BLT was a bacon sandwich essentially. We also had the mac and cheese, it was OK, but not the best and I wouldn't order it again. One interesting thing that they had there was the oysters parm. It sounds gross, but it wasn't bad. I think I would actually order them again. The only downside to the dish is that you don't taste any oysters at all.

I always have a good time when I go to the Parrot. They have a laid-back atmosphere and lots of cold beer to choose from. The food is good - not artisan, but good. I love their quesadillas and my boyfriend loves their Philly cheesesteak. Since they're a Philly bar, it better be good!

Ok so I have a soft spot for Dive Bars but in a world of overpriced South Florida tourist traps can you really blame me?! The Parrot is one of my favorite "local" bars to grab a bite to eat and a cold beer. I prefer to sit at the bar as the bartenders are very friendly and will usually introduce themselves and ask you your name as well. They always have a great selection of unique beers on tap and bottle and they do a great job at having a nice selection of Florida beers. I'm obsessed with the Chicken Philly sandwich and can't bring myself to ever order anything different. Nice shaved/chopped chicken with oooey gooey cheese, onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Just had one last night and seriously writing this make me want another!

Their simple burger and fries were nearly perfect. Even my wife who rarely eats burgers- ordered one and loved it too.

A decent little bar located just around the corner from A1A. Situated in what seems to be a neighborhood full of tiny little crap hole bars and tourist shops. Decent place for a few beers, with a good selection of brands, and the food wasn't half bad either. Nice and relaxed vibe. Three stars.

The parrot is one of those hidden, but not so hidden gems. It's not a bar you go to when you want to put on your heels and dance but it is a great 'bar' bar. The bartenders are always very nice and they somewhat recently expanded their menu to include a sorts of craft beers. If you are a Pennsylvania resident, this place is sure to make you feel like you are close to home (not to mention Primantis on the same block). The Parrot turns into a Philly bar (yuck) but is also Ft Lauderdale's Penn State bar (!!). Come down on Saturday's for college game day, and be prepared to cheer on the Nittany Lions...and the touchdowns. The Parrot has a special gift for all patrons after PSU TD's

Great shrimp quesadilla with a cool draft. Well worth the 1 block walk off the beach!

Can you come home with me parrot lounge? Please? Your scrumptious cheesesteaks and mouthwatering cheese fries will fit into my duffel bag but alas, you yourself will not! How can there not be more dive bars so close to this gorgeous beach? Well apparantly this is a local hangout because the bartender knew everyone by name. Service was excellent, beer selection was excellent, price and atmosphere were excellent. Walk a block and pop a squat on one of the stools here! I promise it will be worth your while. P.S. kitchen was open at 11:30pm! Nice!

This is an Old Fort Lauderdale hang; one that existed at the time of "Where The Boys Are" and continues on today just as it was before Connie Francis made the town famous. As expected, it's laid back, totally casual, unpretentious, some seed to it but not seedy, has good drinks, great bar food and above all one of the most friendly crowds and friendly atmospheres of any bar around. It's one of the best places in Fort Lauderdale to either cure a hangover or get a hangover. The locals and tourists have regularly been doing both for years. The regulars pride themselves as "Parrots" and turn out in big number for the Philly and Dolphin games. It is also located in a pleasant little hood which is safe, clean, right near the beach and has a number of other interesting well run venues to also enjoy.

If you're a fan of the Phillies or Eagles or Flyers or Penn State.....you get the picture....it's a great place for a rabid Philly transplant to watch a game in good company. And it's also a great place to get a mouthwaterimg Philly Cheese steak sandwich. Nice big double room layout with pool tables, shuffleboard and even a Wii to pass the time. The bartenders are cool and it's right on the beach. What more can u ask for?

This place is a pretty average pub/restaurant with burgers, nahoes, chicken sandwiches, and a few soups and salads. They have a ton of bottled beers and brews on tap as well. The selection will not disappoint. Service is okay. Ambiance is alright as well. Pretty much that's it.

A cool bar right off Fort Lauderdale Beach. The bar has a good vibe and a lot of history. It is interesting to read about the history of the bar and see all the photos associated with it. Service is good and bartenders are friendly. Prices are fair, always seem to have good drink specials going on. We went on Taco Tuesday, I got one of each taco. The chicken and fish tacos were both good, but the fish taco was by far the best. Funnel fries were great too. Also had a frozen margarita which was fairly priced and well made. This place has a nice atmosphere, decent food, and a huge selection on tap of some unique beers. Definitely worth a try.

Ok little dive bar with good beer options. Don't expect good food or good service, I would go out to dinner prior to coming here. Best part is the location.

On a recent visit down to Ft. Lauderdale, friends had told me about this place. Run by Philly fans and they love to go for games & meet/mingle with friends from up north. The food was ok, this is a bar, smaller one with outdated tv's, hey where are the big screens/HD's? I think maybe an update is in order. All in all, the food was tasty and the service great and I did enjoy the trip down nostalgia lane. I had a burger and I didn't want the big kaiser roll they serve them on...so I opted for my burger on a wrap. No problem, they obliged and it was tasty. My friends enjoyed their food too..a philly cheese steak & macaroni/shrimp salad. I personally like Duffy's and the larger sports bars to watch games in, but, this is a cool place to check out.

Went back for a sorta late night snack and got the super nachos. These were ok, the taco shell was much better than the chips themselves, the cheese was plentiful, the ground beef was typical, the hot peppers were hot and not my style, the tomatoes were vinegary and kinda weird. I won't be ordering these again, and with the stale chips I dunno if I'd suggest these to anyone regardless of your love for vinegary hot peppers and tomatoes. The service, however, was cheers-esque.

This was our first stop on vacation. Heard great things about it, so we walked from our hotel to eat some dinner. We sat at the bar and ordered the popular Funky Buddha Floridian. Delicious. Amber was the bartender, super friendly and knowledgable. Food was great. Overall, cool place to be!

My oh my where has all the time gone my Parrot friend. Most of you kids and yes alot of you are kids to me, don't remember how damn good the Parrot used to be. I was there on St. Paddy's Day and was I surprised on how dead this place was. Back in the day (Late 80's) the routine was simple for a Friday, hit the Mai-Kai for happy hour and then head to Parrot, River Rock, Baja Beach Club or Confetti's depending on the mood. Everyone hung out at the Parrot. Boy have things changed. The inside looks pretty much the same and I even ran into the owner Tim and chatting with him for a bit. Just a solid guy. They have a bunch of craft beers on tap which I found interesting. I had my standard Miller Lite Draft which Miller Products was the only of beer you could get here for the longest time. No Bud Products at all. I didn't eat, but I never really ate when I went to the Parrot we just drank and met girls:) What was weird was the fact that my wife and I stopped by McSorleys before the Parrot and that place was F'ing rocking. $hit reminded me of the damn Parrot back in the day. Without getting all melodically and $hit maybe I just hit the place on a bad night, not really sure. One thing is for sure is that the Parrot will ALWAYS be 5 F'ing stars amigos. Remember to tell the owner Tim that Dan sent you and Stay Hungry!

If you live in Broward county you know the Parrot... but even if you are from OOT, you will most likely make your way there... because it is good! From their Micro-brewery, and cocktails... to a late nite meal... I think the kitchen is open till 2.. Cheese steak ... Mahi-Mahi, or Fish and Chips .... The Parrot comes in on two of my lists.. comfort food and the neighborhood good bar and grill! Almost a "Cheers" type setting if there were not so many tourists! ...Hey, they cannot remember everyone...

good local bar. Large selection and variety of bottled beers and pretty good selection on tap. Can't comment on the food, as I haven't tried it. Lots of TVs, and even fairly busy on weeknight.

Tom is a great guy! He tried to remember all his customers (and he did!), and made right recommendations for my lunch. I visited this place in 2012 spring and had great last-minute experiences before coming back to California. Although we cheered for different college basketball teams (me for UNC and Tom for Florida) that day, he was very friendly, and the food/beer were fantastic!

I went here today without knowing anything about it before... I'd actually never even heard of it at all! It far surpassed my expectations. A friend and I went to the first place we saw at the beach, and this ended up being it. Our bartender, Greg, was incredible... super funny and friendly, and he gave us two free jello shots since it was our first time there! Very attentive service, great prices, and a wonderful atmosphere. Very casual, and it's a small bar so you're not annoyed by yelling just to hear the person two feet away from you. They have an outdoor area where you can smoke, with lots of chairs and umbrellas. And their mozzarella sticks are highly recommended!! Oh, and they have a TON of beers on tap!

A true Fort Lauderdale Beach staple, the Parrot is a Philly's hangout - so other team fans beware :) Lots of beers on tap and pretty decent food. The bartenders and waiters have always given us great service.

Awesome Bar right off A1A behind the B Ocean hotel with a great staff, selection of beers and the food is good for Bar Food!! I enjoy the bar as it is only a 5 minute walk from home... You will find many regulars who make your time at the bar fun!!

Great location.... but the food is not so great, for that matter...not even good. I ordered the grouper dinner w/mashed potatos and a salad. The fish had absolutely no flavor and the potatos were instant and prepared via microwave and the salad was right out of the bag. :( The beer was good though. Good place to drink, not to eat!

16 craft beers on tap. An off the beaten path bar (relative to the beach strip) but worth the walk. The place has a friendly, family feel to it.
